RJA Student Artwork

The New York State Learning Standards for the Arts provide the framework for the Rockland Jewish Academy elementary art curriculum.
The standards are as follows:
  • Creating, Performing and Participating in the Arts
  • Knowing and Using Art Materials and Resources
  • Responding to and Analyzing Works of Art
  • Understanding the Cultural Contributions of the Arts
Students in grades K-5 receive art experience one day a week.
Rockland Jewish Academy's framework insures that all students receive a thorough study of the arts, with the integration of core subject areas.  Resources from around the world provide historical and cultural context for art lessons and a grounding in the elements and principles of design.  With the incorporation of art history and
learning about the works and lives of various artists and cultures,
students develop their own creative process through the experience of working with varied materials and techniques, and learn to reflect upon their work.
